About Required CNA License
Requirements to work as a nursing assistant can vary significantly from state to state. To become a certified nursing assistant (CNA), an individual generally must obtain a high school diploma or equivalent and/or complete a state-approved CNA program. Other typical requirements include completing an application, paying required fees, and passing a nursing assistant competency examination. Each state also has particular requirements for maintaining a certification active and/or renewing certification.
Requirements
Patient Care Responsibilities:
Allowing for some variation in duties from one work setting to another, the following are typical responsibilities of CNAs:
Assist patients with activities of daily living activities (bathing, dressing, eating, mobility, and toileting).
Assist patient with taking vital signs and report any changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.
Ensure patient rooms and living spaces are clean, organized, and safe.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents and patients.
Follow individualized care plans and facility procedures with professionalism and care.
Observe or examine patients to detect symptoms that may require medical attention
Maintain patient confidentiality
Clean and sanitize patients’ clothing, rooms, bathrooms, examination rooms, or other areas, maintaining safety standards and infection control procedures
Accompany or transport resident’s to doctor’s appointments.
Work closely with nursing and clinical teams to ensure quality care delivery.
· Maintaining accurate records of services performed, patient's condition, and progress.
· All other duties as deemed appropriate by the cooperative.

Shared Ownership: As an employee-owner, actively contribute to the cooperative's success and participate in decision-making.
Democratic Governance: Participate in electing the board of directors and potentially serving on the board, following the principle of "one member, one vote".
Financial Participation: Understand the cooperative's financial structure and how profit allocation is determined based on labor contribution.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other employee-owners and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and improve workflow efficiency.
Professional Development: Take advantage of training and development opportunities offered by the cooperative to enhance skills and career prospects.
Community Engagement: Potentially participate in community service and volunteering initiatives supported by the cooperative.
Qualifications:
Here are basic qualifications and important skills for nursing assistants working with Neighborhood Nursing:
Active CNA license in the state of Alabama with minimum 2 years of experience.
Current CPR certification.
Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance.
Compassion, empathy, excellent interpersonal skills and maintain confidentiality.
Strong communication and observation skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs and home environments.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks like lifting or turning clients.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current physical and TB/PPD test.
Ability to travel up to 30 minutes for client care, training, or business needs.
